Change Me

A dear friend of mine slipped this into one of my books a few years ago and I happened upon it tonight...it was exactly what I needed to read at this moment in my life. I hope it blesses you as well!

Dear Lord,

Change not Thy will in my life, or trial and sorrows to be;
Renew my faith and make me strong, Change not Thy will, change me.

Though teardrops fall when trouble comes, like storms on a rolling sea;
Let thy beacon guide my ship to port, Change not the storm, change me.

When Thy Holy work I don't understand, and thy glory I cannot see;
Teach my eyes; give me sight and wisdom, Change not Thy word, change me.

If the fruit Thou hast given me to eat, taste bitter and sour, I plea;
Let not my will but Thine be done; Change not the fruit, change me.

If I sometime murmur and grumble, Dear Lord, about the cross I carry for Thee;
Keep it firm on my shoulders, but hold my hand, Change not the cross, change me.

If you change Thy ways to please me, Dear Lord, I would soon grow cold and turn from Thee;
That You may hear my prayers, Dear Lord, Change not Thy ways, change me.

There's a valley I must cross, Someday Thy face to see;
Lest I forget what power is Thine, Change not the valley, change me.

"Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that worketh in us." Ephesians 3:20

The Hope I Hold Onto...

We cannot kindle when we will
The fire, which in the heart, resides,
The spirit bloweth and is still,
In mystery our soul abides
But tasks in hours of insight willed
Can be through hours of gloom fulfilled

...sometimes we do not understand why we must endure through hard times, but rest assured God has the best for you in mind

...you are not alone!

...this is the hope I hold onto...

You Are Woman

So I just finished reading a book called Captivating written by John and Stasi Eldredge and I am completely enthralled. I bought this book a while back and had read most of it, but it never hit me like it has now at this season in my life. My eyes have been opened to how my Creator truly sees me and to the kind of woman I am yearning to become. This book dabbles in our fantasies, confronts our fears, reassures our longings, encourages, enlightens, and equips. It takes the very core of who we are meant to be as women, works to eliminate the chains that our past has enslaved us with and opens up a whole new chapter to a life lived in pure surrender to a God who loves us unconditionally and gives us hope to find true love here on this earth.

I want to share with you one of the last sections of the book in hopes that it will remind you who you are (as a woman) and encourage you to strive daily towards a life centered around Christ so that we may be warriors in the presence of our men, whether you are married or not. They need us just as much as we need them, but most importantly, we need to continually be pointing each other towards Christ so our life is found only in Him.

Chapter 12, page 217:

"You are a woman. An image bearer of God. The Crown of Creation. You were chosen before time and space, and you are wholly and dearly loved. You are sought after, pursued, romanced, the passionate desire of your Fiance, Jesus. You are dangerous in your beauty and your life-giving power. And you are needed.

As a woman who has been ransomed and redeemed, you can be strong and tender. You speak to the world of God's mercy, mystery, beauty, and his desire for intimate relationship. You are inviting; you can risk being vulnerable, offering the weight of your life as well as your need for more because you are safe in God's love. You labor with God to bring forth life--in creativity, in work, in others. Your aching, awakened heart leads you to the feet of Jesus, where you wait on him and wait for him. The eyes of his heart are ever upon you. The King is captivated by your beauty.

We need you. We need you to awaken to God more fully and to awaken to the desires of the heart that he placed within you so that you will come alive to him and to the role that is yours to play. Perhaps you are meant to be a concert musician or a teacher. Perhaps you are meant to be a neurologist or a horse trainer. Perhaps you are be an activist for ecology or the poor or the aged or the ill. You are certainly called to be a woman, wherever else he leads you.

And that is crucial, dear heart. Whatever your particular calling, you are meant to grace the world with your dance, to follow the lead of Jesus wherever he leads you. He will lead you first into Himself; and then, with him, he will lead you into the world that he loves and needs you to love.

It is by Invitation."

Trust Me

All my thoughts could not possibly be summed up
All this time could never be made up
What has been will be no more
The debts been paid - You closed the door
And I'm still standing in Your pool of blood
Wondering why You displayed this love
Holding up my arms I scream
Let me out of this crazy dream
Put back together the things I dont know
Help me to trust You wherever I go

For things I know in my present
and that which I can't see in my future

You have asked me to
TRUST YOU

Do you find yourself at this very moment surrounded with needs, and nearly overwhelmed with difficulties, trials, and emergencies? Each of these is God's way of providing vessels for the Holy Spirit to fill. If you correctly understand their meaning, you will see them as opportunities for receiving new blessings and deliverance you can receive in no other way.
The Lord is saying to you, "Bring them here to me" (Mt 14:18). Firmly hold the vessels before Him, in faith and in prayer. Remain still before Him, and stop our own restless working until He begins to work. Do nothing that He Himself has not commanded you to do. Allow God time to work and He surely will. Then the very trials that threatened to overcome you with discouragement and disaster will become God's opportunity to reveal His grace and glory in your life, in ways you have never known before. (AB Simpson)

Sometimes its good to be reminded that we have a God we can trust...who knows what we need and even delights in giving us what we want. All we need to do is lay it all down at His feet...

A Vision of Neverland

We live in a fairytale
A world full of dreams that are barely real
where to fly is not but a happy thought
and stuck in reality no longer is taught

the smiles of angels bring captive our faces
to carry us from these sad lonely places
our lives a routine that leave much to desire
yet burning inside our hearts are on fire

Release us, we ask you - to this magical place
Release us, we beg you - away from what's safe
we no longer hold on to these chains the world gave us
we let go of the darkness and pains that enslave us

bring light to this soul that is weary from travel
heal all these wounds we received in this battle
the fight is not over, we know this full well
dreams long forgotten, cast out from this spell

So teach us to love and find hope in the stories
that comfort these hearts and bring rest to our worries
A vision of Neverland far off in the distance
To reach out and find there is purpose in our existence.

**I wrote this last November and just stumbled across it again as I am at yet another place in my life where I have begun to detox from my past and even my current trials so that I may be ready for an exciting future, or even just another day of trusting His love...its a realization of a need to shed more layers of dirt that have piled up and presenting myself vulnerable and ready to a God who wants to wash me clean and give me hope and a future. All the wonders of this world that are beautiful and captivating, that hold our attention and make us stand in awe, to think of such things can only render one's imagination to what heaven will truly be like and a second chance at what life was meant to be...no more hurt, no more tears, no more doubt, no more fears...to be in our Father's presence and simply worship.

This Neverland that we seek screams to be real as each day reveals more to us, giving us purpose and finding a smile even in the most unlikely places. Do not be discouraged in the midst of your current trials because your fairy tale does exist and love is waiting for you...seek and ye shall find!

"Cause I need your strength to feel this weak
I need your touch to feel my need
I need your strong hands to carry me
Take me, Bring me to my knees
I am Yours! Come and break me down."  ~Tenth Avenue North
